Why this region is different
Nothing physical stops anybody. The clock does.
Most places we staff have something in the way. A bridge, a ferry, a mountain pass, an hour of farmland. The GTA has none of it: eighty kilometres of continuous city, and every road connects to every other road.
So the limit is time, and the thing worth knowing is that time is not symmetrical. The same trip is twenty minutes one way and an hour the other at eight in the morning, because everybody is going the same direction. A radius on a map is roughly right inbound and badly wrong outbound, which is precisely where the suburban practices are.

Inside the Greater Toronto Area
The City of Toronto plus four regional municipalities, which is how people here describe where they work. Toronto has city pages; the regions have them on the way.
One city since 1998, six municipalities before that, and residents still give the old name when you ask where they live. Ninety minutes end to end in traffic, which is why the borough matters.
Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon. Two of the largest cities in the country sitting west of Toronto, plus farmland above them, and airport shift work shaping the patient books.
Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and the towns north of them. Suburban, fast-growing and drawn southward, so its practices compete with downtown for the same commuters.
Pickering east through Oshawa to Clarington. The eastern edge of the GTA, where the pool thins going east and a local hire counts for more.
Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills. Affluent lakeshore books to the south, some of the fastest residential growth in the country inland.

Four lines that change who claims your shift
Name the direction, not just the address
A professional reading your shift is working out one thing: is this trip with the traffic or against it. Saying you are north of the 401 or a short walk from a GO station answers it in a line.
The suburbs have an advantage at eight
It reads backwards and it holds. A reverse commute out of the core is quick precisely because everyone else is heading in, so a suburban practice is asking for the trip nobody is competing for.
Transit access is worth more than parking
In the core it is the only realistic arrival. Further out, being near a GO or subway station widens your pool to everybody who does not drive, which is a large share of the professionals here.
Credentials are ours on temp
CDHO registration confirmed for hygienists, RCDSO for locum dentists, and the NDAEB certificate plus HARP where an assistant is taking radiographs. One invoice at an all-in hourly rate.

Think in minutes and directions
Set your radius by time, not kilometres
Distance is close to meaningless here. Tell us the trip you will actually make and we will match on that, which usually means saying which direction you are willing to go at eight in the morning.
Reverse commutes are underrated
If you live in the core and are willing to work outward, you get a fast trip and less competition for the shift. Suburban offices consistently get fewer claims than downtown ones.
The deepest market in the country
More practices than anywhere else in Canada, across general practice, specialty and community clinics. If you want volume or variety, this is where there is most of both.
One tax form, however many practices
Every shift runs through WORKFORCE, so a year across Toronto, Peel and York lands on a single T4 rather than one per office.

How do you decide which professionals see my GTA shift?
By the trip each professional has told us they will genuinely make, which in this region matters more than anywhere else we operate. There is no bridge or ferry here, so nothing physical limits who can reach you, but the same distance can be a twenty minute drive or an hour depending on the direction and the hour. Naming your municipality, the nearest highway or GO station, and whether there is parking is what makes the match work.
Is it harder to fill a shift downtown or in the suburbs?
Downtown has far more professionals nearby and far more practices competing for them. Suburban offices have a thinner local pool and much less competition, plus the advantage that a reverse commute out of the core is genuinely quick in the morning. In practice a well-described suburban shift often fills more easily than a vague downtown one.
Should we mention parking in the posting?
Yes, and it is one of the highest-value lines you can add in this region. In the core most professionals arrive by transit and parking is expensive enough to change whether a shift is worth taking. Further out the opposite applies and people assume they will drive. Either way, saying which it is removes the guesswork.
Do you cover all five parts of the GTA?
We staff across Toronto, Peel, York, Durham and Halton, and coverage is deepest in the City of Toronto, where we are building city pages first. The regional municipalities have pages on the way. What do you verify for professionals working in the GTA?
On temp and locum bookings, where the professional is our employee: registration in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario for hygienists, and with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario for dentists. Dental assisting is not regulated in Ontario, so there we confirm the NDAEB certificate for Level II duties and HARP certification where the role involves radiographs.
I live in the GTA. How far should I say I will travel?
Think in minutes and directions rather than kilometres, and be honest about the morning rather than the map. Somebody willing to drive outward from the core at eight will see a steady flow of suburban work that other people are turning down. Somebody who would rather not drive at all should set a radius around transit and say so.
