What a shift costs, all three ways

Self-Service, Managed and Full Service are the same shift bought three different ways. Full Service usually costs least, which surprises people: when we employ the professional, the single-day premium, the payroll tax and insurance stacked on it, and the hours your front office spends all come off your side of the ledger.

No placement fee

You choose the worker and pay them directly.

Managed

Placement fee per shift

  • Misclassification exposure is ours
  • Day to day direction in your operatory

On these numbers Full Service costs least, at $85.95 an hour. Self-Service is $15.07 an hour more, not because it includes more, but because you absorb the single-day premium, the payroll tax and insurance on top of it, and 3.25 hours of your own time per placement.

Full Service usually lands lowest because three real costs disappear from your side: the premium a single-day rate carries, the payroll tax and insurance sitting on top of it, and the hours your front office spends. Drag the temp premium, the insurance rate and the admin cost to zero and Self-Service wins instead, which is the honest answer for an office whose time is free and whose coverage is already in place.

A note on the wage line. On Full Service we pay the professional, at rates we set city by city from market data, so no single-day premium is added and the payroll tax lands on a smaller base. On the other two levels you pay them directly, which is why the premium and everything stacked on it appears there.

Estimate only. The workers’ compensation and liability figure is the rate you enter rather than one we assert, and misclassification exposure is not priced at all because it has no honest hourly figure; it sits with your practice on Self-Service and Managed and with us on Full Service. Rates and the placement fee vary by market, and service levels are not available everywhere. Talk to us for the numbers in your area.

Still comparing us against an agency?

This page assumes you have decided to use a staffing partner and asks which of our levels fits. If the question is still whether to use one at all, the other calculator sets the basement agency model against ours and counts the temp premium, the placement fee and the admin time behind every shift.
