Where exactly is the former City of York?
Between Old Toronto and North York, west of the Yonge corridor. It covers Weston, Mount Dennis, Oakwood-Vaughan, Fairbank and Silverthorn, and it was its own municipality until the 1998 amalgamation. It is the smallest of the six former cities apart from East York, and it is genuinely central: downtown is about a twenty-five minute trip.
How easy is it to staff?
Easier than the name suggests, once the posting is clear. It is central, it sits on the Eglinton corridor, and Weston has a station on both the UP Express and the GO line, so professionals can reach it without a car. The practices here are small and independent, which means fewer of them compete for the same person than in the core.
Who employs the temp professional in my York practice?
We do, on temp and locum bookings. For hygienists we confirm registration in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, and for locum dentists with the RCDSO. Dental assisting is not a regulated profession in Ontario, so there we confirm the NDAEB certificate for Level II duties and HARP certification where the role involves radiographs. On a permanent hire your practice is the employer and runs its own checks.
