Permanent roles
You can look without anybody knowing you are looking
Dentistry is a small profession and everybody knows everybody, which is why most people who want to move do not start looking. Here is exactly what a practice can see about you, and at which point, and who decided it.
What they see, and when
Step through a search and watch the card fill in. Nothing on it appears without you.
What a practice can see
Not shared with anybody
- Role
- Experience
- Area
- Looking for
- Name
- Contact
- References
A mock, not a real person. We do not approach the practice you currently work in, and we do not ask anybody for a reference until you tell us to.
Move through a search
Nobody has seen anything
You tell us what you are looking for. At this point no practice knows you exist, and we have not spoken to anybody about you.
Before you ask
The practice pays the fee. You do not pay us anything.
A permanent placement carries a fee, it is real, and it is charged to the practice doing the hiring. It is quoted to them before anything is agreed. Nothing is deducted from your salary, nothing comes out of a signing figure, and there is no arrangement where a lower offer to you makes our fee smaller.
We are telling you this unprompted because the alternative is you wondering about it for the length of a search and never asking.
What you are never asked for
- A fee, a deposit, or a percentage of anything
- A commitment to stay a minimum length of time with us
- Exclusivity, or a promise not to look elsewhere
- Your current salary, as a condition of being put forward
This is not applying for a job
It is a different mechanism with a different power balance, and the difference is worth understanding before you decide whether it is worth your time.
You are not one of ninety applications
A posting collects whoever is looking that week and buries you in a folder. A search works the other way around: we are told what a practice needs and we go and find people, most of whom are not looking, which is a much better position to be approached from.
You find out about the bad ones first
We staff these practices day to day. We know which ones run to time, which ones burn through hygienists, and which owner is difficult on a Friday. You get told that before you spend an evening on an interview.
You are not negotiating alone
Somebody who does this professionally sits between you and the offer, which matters most for the people who find that conversation hardest. That is usually not the people who are worst at their job.
The awkward parts are not yours to manage
Chasing a practice that has gone quiet, asking whether the offer is moving, telling them the money is not enough. All of it is easier when it goes through somebody else, and none of it should cost you the role.
What stays yours throughout
A recruiter who cannot be turned down is not working for you.
- You choose who sees you
- Nothing goes to a practice until you have heard who they are and said yes. If you would rather not be put forward, that is the end of it and it costs you nothing.
- You decide, at every point
- We introduce, we coordinate, and we chase. We do not accept anything on your behalf and we would not want the ability to.
- You can keep temping throughout
- Looking for something permanent does not mean stopping. A lot of people carry on temping right up to a start date, and some of them find the role that way.
What changes the day it becomes permanent
A permanent role is not a long temp shift, and the differences are not cosmetic.
The practice becomes your employer
Not us. A permanent role is a contract between you and them, with their payroll, their terms, and their notice period. That is the whole point of it, and it is different from a temp shift in every way that matters.
Your contract is worth reading properly
Notice, hours, probation, and what happens to your holiday. We will tell you what we know and flag anything that looks unusual, and we are not your lawyer.
Checks are theirs to run
On a temp placement we verify registration and insurance because you are our employee. On a permanent hire the practice is the employer and runs its own checks, which is normal and is not a sign of anything.
Tell us what you would move for
Not a CV and not an application. Just the days you want, the kind of practice, and what would have to be true. We will tell you honestly whether that exists near you.
